I think it is possible that output could get queued to a client during CloseDownClient. After it is removed from the pending queue, active grabs are released, the client is awoken if sleeping and any work queue entries related to the client are processed. To fix this, move the call removing it from the output_pending chain until after clientGone has been set and then check clientGone in output_pending_mark. X Server
The X server accepts requests from client applications to create windows,
which are (normally rectangular) "virtual screens" that the client program
can draw into.
Windows are then composed on the actual screen by the X server
(or by a separate composite manager) as directed by the window manager,
which usually communicates with the user via graphical controls such as buttons
and draggable titlebars and borders.
