Make the maximum number of clients user configurable, either from the command line or from xorg.conf This patch works by using the MAXCLIENTS (raised to 512) as the maximum allowed number of clients, but allowing the actual limit to be set by the user to a lower value (keeping the default of 256). There is a limit size of 29 bits to be used to store both the client ID and the X resources ID, so by reducing the number of clients allowed to connect to the X server, the user can increase the number of X resources per client or vice-versa. X Server
The X server accepts requests from client applications to create windows,
which are (normally rectangular) "virtual screens" that the client program
can draw into.
Windows are then composed on the actual screen by the X server
(or by a separate composite manager) as directed by the window manager,
which usually communicates with the user via graphical controls such as buttons
and draggable titlebars and borders.
