drmmode_set_scanout_pixmap_(cpu/gpu) would only do teardown if ppix == NULL. This meant that if there were consecutive calls to SetScanoutPixmap(ppix != NULL) without calls to SetScanoutPixmap(ppix == NULL) in between, earlier calls would be leaked. RRReplaceScanoutPixmap() does this today. Instead, when setting a scanout pixmap, always do teardown of the existing scanout pixmap before setting up the new one. Then, if there is no new one to set up, stop there. X Server
The X server accepts requests from client applications to create windows,
which are (normally rectangular) "virtual screens" that the client program
can draw into.
Windows are then composed on the actual screen by the X server
(or by a separate composite manager) as directed by the window manager,
which usually communicates with the user via graphical controls such as buttons
and draggable titlebars and borders.
