EGLstream's post_damage() would unconditionally return success regardless of the actual status of the eglSwapBuffers(). Yet, if eglSwapBuffers() fails, we should not post the corresponding damage as they wouldn't match the actual content of the buffer. Use the eglSwapBuffers() return value as the return value for post_damage() and do not take a refrence on the pixmap if it fails. X Server
The X server accepts requests from client applications to create windows, which are (normally rectangular) "virtual screens" that the client program can draw into.
Windows are then composed on the actual screen by the X server (or by a separate composite manager) as directed by the window manager, which usually communicates with the user via graphical controls such as buttons and draggable titlebars and borders.
