The fix from commitc468d34c7- "glx: Set ContextTag for all contexts" is actually incomplete, it correctly sets the context tag for direct contexts as well, but would fail to mark the context's currentClient. As a result, when the context is destroyed, it would be freed immediately rather than being just scheduled for deletion, even though it is still current for some client. leading to a use-after-free. Make sure to also set the context's currentClient for direct contexts as well, not just indirect ones. X Server
The X server accepts requests from client applications to create windows, which are (normally rectangular) "virtual screens" that the client program can draw into.
Windows are then composed on the actual screen by the X server (or by a separate composite manager) as directed by the window manager, which usually communicates with the user via graphical controls such as buttons and draggable titlebars and borders.
