This was already removed for XWin (20701522be) with no reported side effects. XQuartz seems to be behaving ok without it as well. While this possibly brings back bug #1168, we don't have any reproduction steps for that issue, and if it crops up again, we should fix it a real way rather than this hokey workaround which doesn't even work for COMPOSITE. X Server
The X server accepts requests from client applications to create windows,
which are (normally rectangular) "virtual screens" that the client program
can draw into.
Windows are then composed on the actual screen by the X server
(or by a separate composite manager) as directed by the window manager,
which usually communicates with the user via graphical controls such as buttons
and draggable titlebars and borders.
