We don't want universal_planes unless we're using atomic APIs for modesetting, and the kernel already enables universal_planes automatically when atomic is enabled. If we enable universal_planes when we're not using atomic, then we won't have selected a plane for each crtc, and this will break lease creation which requires planes for each output when universal_planes is enabled. X Server
The X server accepts requests from client applications to create windows,
which are (normally rectangular) "virtual screens" that the client program
can draw into.
Windows are then composed on the actual screen by the X server
(or by a separate composite manager) as directed by the window manager,
which usually communicates with the user via graphical controls such as buttons
and draggable titlebars and borders.
