In commit9db2af6f75(xfree86: Remove xf86{Map,Unmap}VidMem) we somehow stopped exporting xf86{Read,Write}Mmio{8,16,32}. Since the function pointer indirection was intended to support dense vs sparse and sparse support is now gone, we can just make the functions static inline in compiler.h and avoid all of this. X Server
The X server accepts requests from client applications to create windows,
which are (normally rectangular) "virtual screens" that the client program
can draw into.
Windows are then composed on the actual screen by the X server
(or by a separate composite manager) as directed by the window manager,
which usually communicates with the user via graphical controls such as buttons
and draggable titlebars and borders.
